I usually don't post personal stuff, but I just had to share my new little guy with y'all! His name is Tommy. Yep, that's right- Tommy Thomas :). We adopted him from a shelter and he was named that already, and it just suited him, so we kept it. He is 9 weeks old. His mom was a boxer, and his dad, an american bulldog. My hubs and I have been searching for the perfect pup for over a year now, and well- we found him! He is just the sweetest! We had to get to the shelter at 3am to get in line for this guy and wait until 9:30 when they opened. There was one person who beat us there (got there at midnight!) and had first pick of the litter. It was so hard to choose between these guys (we wanted to take them all!) Anyways, my break has definitely NOT been filled with lesson planning or any thoughts related to art ed. It has been filled with 4:30 AM wake ups, frequent trips outside (every 20 mins), reading almost every book out there on puppy training (from my library), and snuggling up with this sweetie!

Congratulations! I'm totally there with you. . . or at least was a few weeks ago. My pup is now 4months and can sleep through the night with no accidents. . .he started sleeping 6 hours at 41/2 months so you have that to look forward too! They grow and learn really fast. It is very cool. . . so when you get exhausted know that it won't last for but a few weeks! Good luck with puppy training and cuddling.
ReplyDeletewhoops I meant he started sleeping 6 hours at 31/2 months:)
ReplyDeleteHe's too cute for words:))))
CONGRATS!!! being a fur mommy is tons of fun. You are doing everything right so it sounds! I was so scared to go to work when i got my Aspen 4 years ago....I got her i think during spring break I thought my gosh what will she do the whole eight hours I am gone!?! The kitchen became her "area" that was blocked in with a baby gate...That way I didn't have to crate her for eight hours straight...plus she learned to like her crate by going in there on her own to sleep...as she got older...I would expand her "area" from the kitchen to the living room...once she was potty trained that is....
ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad about no art over break I haven't done squat over break for school but I think that is the purpose of X mas break anyway! :)
Art Project Girl-
ReplyDeleteThanks! That is very good to know...It's funny how waking up at 4:30 for anything else would be painful and annoying, but each time I still get so excited to see his little face and wagging tail! ;)
CMae- THANK YOU for the advice! I am already getting worried about leaving him for 8 hours starting next week- I like the idea of using a gate and letting him free in the kitchen- I can see how he would start liking his crate more as a comfy place too! Great Idea! We have some friends who work from home nearby, that said they would love to let him out and play a little during lunch- so that will help I think!
OH...sooooo sweet!! congrats!
ReplyDeleteYour welcome! I kinda feel like the puppy expert LOL I am super anal about you know the care of pets and not boxing them in for hours on end :) the kitchen is a good place bec if they have an accident, it's easily cleaned up...I put a puppy pad down in the kitchen to help "show" where to go..they make spray that attracts the dog to pee on it too if you wanna go that far :) I resorted to the baby gate after my pup figured she'd chew the boxes that had laying on their sides to block her in LOL.
ReplyDeleteNow that's just what cute looks like!!! I can tell you from experience, having a brother named Tommy, and a brother in law named Tommy, those guys are mischievous and full of fun...just to prepare you:-) Enjoy him!!!!
ReplyDeleteHe is a CUTIE! Boxer and Bulldog...what a fun mix. Enjoy him! :D
