My 6th Graders LOVED making these. So much, that they've been telling me about making them at home too! :) Here are a few links with instructions I've gathered. I varied my methods just a bit. I taught students to fold from the corner of each magazine page to get longer "rods" or strips, and instead of using glue, we used scotch tape to tape the rods together. Finally we used glossy acrylic polymer to varnish and hold them in shape. Some students altered the shape of their bowl into ovals or squares by bending them withtheir hands while they were flat coils. Other students chose certain color schemes.
Here they are drying upside down by my vent...
I love these magazine vessels.
ReplyDeleteI am in the process of learning how to do this myself.
Wow..these are awesome. I am going to check out the links.
ReplyDeleteMy fifth graders are currently working on the same project and are LOVING it! Several kids have taken them home between Art classes to work on and some have even worked on them during recess! They get so excited as they see them grow taller and taller:)
ReplyDeleteThat second link is pornographic. Not sure what happened but a pop up window came up with a picture that was REALLY bad. Not awesome while sitting in the orthodontist office with my kids looking st crafts. You should delete it!
